All flights with members of congress should be cancelled. They aren’t doing their job anyway

And to be fair those small jets should only be going to the smaller airports that don’t serve airlines. There are always several small airports around big cities that serve private planes.

Privatize it. This is too important to be left to government.

Me too. But to be fair they can use small airports in the same city when airlines cannot. So that would be an easy solution.

If a judge can order SNAP payments to continue, why can't a judge order that air traffic controllers get paid?

Conversely, why can't Congress pass an emergency resolution to at least fund ATC if nothing else?

I also disagree with the author's premise. Nearly all private aircraft can and do use smaller municipal/relief airports with more relative capacity and cheaper/no landing fees. Nobody is taking a Learjet or a Citation into O'Hare or JFK even under normal circumstances.

Besides, unlike the airliners private aircraft don't have assigned blocks. The most you could do under current regulations is simply deny landing clearance.

Smaller planes can fly in uncontrolled airspace much easier

Their travel is way more important. The benefits will trickle down 😉

Not Net Jets or private jets. They tend to fly the same routes and altitudes as airlines. They can go higher and go direct. Most airlines do not fly above 41,000’. Usually 35 to 39. Private jets like to fly at 43,000 to 45,000. Some can go to 51,000’ but that’s rare. But that’s all controlled airspace.

Some of those “smaller” jets that are private are almost as big as commercial planes. Some used to be and were converted to private aircraft. They cannot take off or land at some of the smaller airports because the runways are too short and the support facilities are not in place.

Yes. They get pretty big. But they still can operate out of 5000’ fields.

Maybe some can but not all fields have the stair trucks or fueling abilities. Nor can their ramp accomodate the weight. I work in the private aircraft industry.

I don’t have an opinion on this. I was just surprised that I haven’t seen you make a poll about the UPS plane that crashed and killed some people. Did I miss your poll?

Private jest still have to file flight plans, but they don’t have to get permission to fly. There’s no way to enforce this.

I can see your tongue in your cheek. But like he said in the report, if you bothered to watch it, those people have influence and will start making phone calls if they’re grounded. Maybe put an end to this shutdown.

Voted no because I have a soft spot for smaller aircraft and despise commercial flight.

Private jets do get flow delays just like the airlines. From my buddy at Cirrus.

They did that in Mexico. You pay a user fee to fly. Passengers pay that now in a ticket tax. But not private planes.

If the field is 5000’ it’s probably already has a jet center. But to be fair. I don’t know of any private jets that don’t have their own air stairs. I do know that the 2500’ field that I used to fly out of didn’t carry jet fuel. But that’s too short anyway.

The airports where I work can accomodate commercial at one and private only at the others. One of the private only can accomodate a 737 which I know of some that are private but they don’t have stair trucks, lift equipment or wide enough areas by the FBO for them to taxi and park.

It seems a logical prioritization.

The BBJ is a big corporate aircraft. That will most likely end up at a bigger airport. I used to fly a private DC-9-21 for Harrah’s casino. But it has air stairs built in to the front and back. Plus all loading could be done from the ground without a ladder. Even the fuel. Plus it didn’t need a pushback. It could back itself up. Douglas thought of all that when they built that airplane. That plane is still flying parachuters out of Paris Valley airport in Southern California. Check it out on YouTube.

The BBJ does have its own stairs built in.

Usually yes, I’ve seen the BBJ fly into one or two of the private airports here and they have had to bring in special equipment to service them for loading/unloading. They also have had to park them out in the middle of the ramp far from the buildings.

Yes. One of our guys turned the jet and had too much power up and blew the roof off the building. Oops.
