There appears to be a deal on the table to reopen the government. Is that because: A. The Dems were waiting until after the election - B. Pressure finally hit the White House

Keep it closed, even though it affects me.

The dems have been very clear on what they want since day 1, and the republicans have been staunchly refusing to even talk to them. This is pressure hitting the white house, because trump and his people realized that the majority of Americans blame the GOP for the shutdown and it’s going to cost the GOP elections.

The holidays.

MAGA knows that if this continues through the holidays – people not affording gifts, Christmas dinner costing an arm and a leg, and TSA lines stretching four hours during travel rush – they’ve lost whatever high ground they have. Their excuses are flimsy already.

Plus, denying/delaying SNAP benefits will turn 40,000,000+ people against MAGA even more.

Please, it definitely won’t turn that many people. The majority of the republicans in that number will say “But Daddy Trump isn’t at fault! It was the mean mean democrats’ fault cause daddy Trump said so!”

We all know the reason why democrat and liberal politicians shut down the government. The only way they know how to win elections is to cheat!

The Dems, Sen. Schumer, caused the shutdown, then skillfully shifted the blame to the Republicans. Well done!

I haven’t seen any pressure on the White House. We don’t really care about the government being shutdown because 80% of it is still open.

If the Senate Republicans cave to Chuck Schumer and give illegals “free” healthcare, they can kiss the midterms goodbye.

The people are pissed off at these idiots blaming each other. Get to work and stop this finger-pointing bullshit. It's bad enough that Republicans act like they do nothing wrong and Democrats don't fight back.

They should use the nuclear option and vote to fund the government. Then they don’t have to give anything up.

Definitely A—pressure has not hit the White House. The shutdown is harming Democrats nationally far more than it is Republicans.

The Dems refused to open it and blamed Trump for it, so that they could win in the polls. That’s unconscionable. And I hope many will remember this. The government that feeds you can also starve you.

And oppress you, force you into denouncing God, etc. I don’t want to live off the government.

We even talked about this here last week….that we could just about guarantee that they would vote to open it back up after voting day.

As in, let’s negotiate about restoring my $1.3 Trillion slush fund or I’ll blow up this whole country. Seems reasonable. 🤪

Have you seen and do you understand what they want to “talk” about?!!! Unbelievable.

Funding the ACA subsidies is what they want to talk about, IIRC

They just want to extend the above, for one more year, and a formal agreement to have a bipartisan committee formed to conduct negotiations and make healthcare affordable to all after 2026.

What is unreasonable?

I would love for FLSun to explain how subsidies to the American people are a “slush fund”…

A. But they’re still trying to attach unacceptable stuff to it so I don’t think it will go through.

No, it’s not unreasonable to want everyone to have healthcare.

OBBB + ACA subsidies phase out = Double Whammy on the humble American families.

Yes. It’s unreasonable to attach such things to the CR.

Agreed, the CR is the required 1st step. It’s a simple equation.
