Yes, I believe it is possible that an advanced civilization could have existed and it was probably annihilated by more barbaric civilization but it wouldn’t have looked anything like what we picture Atlantis to have looked like in our books, movies and imagination.

It might have been a few hundred years more advanced than other civilizations of the time and they probably possessed more advanced technology and weaponry but that doesn’t mean they were invulnerable to less advanced civilizations with overwhelming numbers.

It could be somewhere near Santorin or Crete (affected by volcano eruptions and related tsunamis), the sea of Marmara or the Black sea, affected by tectonic shelf shift, the dead sea, etc…
