I'm in the minority here but I'd choose being social. Being able to handle yourself around others is an intelligence in itself. At the same time, if you can't communicate your intelligence to the rest of society then what good is it? No one will really know how smart you are because they won't listen.

That being said I'm glad I don't need to worry about either of these. Both can get you many things, though social skill more probably. Either way I value intellect more because what's the point of knowing how to talk to people if you're stupid? It only makes things worse for everyone else.

The first description fits me perfectly. It caused me to be mercilessly bullied in junior high. In high school, college, grad school, and throughout life, I have been socially awkward, and probably thought of as "eccentric." But life has been fine.

Social. People tend to give you a pass if they like you, and judge you more harshly if they don’t. That extra advantage will make up for the lack of intelligence.

I would rather be off the charts intelligent because if I was, being socially awkward might not be as much of a problem. Many things can be done in a somewhat isolated way if you are extremely smart.

I’d rather be socially inclined, and I’ll tell you why. The most successful business leaders are great speakers. Most of them are intelligent, too, but you have to be a gifted communicator and deal-breaker to be successful in business.
Personally, I’d rather keep my social skills than my intelligence. I’m moderately intelligent, but also socially inclined.

Good points Don. I've never noticed any awkwardness here; I'm uncomfortable in them and try to have conversations with the person who looks easiest to talk with. 😊

IQ is by far and away the best correlate for success. If you had to pick one trait to excel, pick IQ.
