Btwn 2000-2016, 8 states – Arkansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, North Dakota, Utah & Wisconsin – eliminated their use of private prisons due to concerns about safety and cost cutting. The rest of the nation should follow their lead.
