Do you believe it was fair to let Franklin Roosevelt exceed 2 terms as president?
A socialist that the current Texas Historybooks has completely began to target. It's sad that the next generation will believe this great president to be something he isn't.
In the end, it was a good idea. On a similar note, a good portion of WWII occurred during FDR's third term. Here's some food for thought. What if someone else was president instead?
It was terribly unwise to give him even one term.
He was one of our greatest presidents.
And I'd say he is in a three way tie for worst president along with Wilson and LBJ.
Nobody "allowed it." He won the elections. Legally, nobody could have taken action to not "allow it."
Term limits were passed, as a backlash reaction to FDR's 4 terms.
Of course. Perfectly legit. It's better now though, that we don't allow it.
Nobody could win 4 terms now.
Probably not, still, having lived through the debacle in the eighties, better safe than sorry.
There wasn't a law against it. Any president up to that point could have taken that third term. He wasn't doing anything wrong.
No term limits then
