Do you find that reading something aloud helps you memorize the material better?

No. I just need quiet and I might need to read it twice.

Reason being,my brother has been chanting and reading in a rather monotonous voice his anatomy textbook chapter on the brain and nervous system for the past couple hours. Oh dear.

It makes me remember things less. Like I spend so much more time concentrating on pronunciation than actually hearing the words I'm saying. I'll read it aloud then be like "wait what was that...?"

Sometimes it does, like if I'm just confused about what I just read, I might stop, read it out loud and then have that "Oh, I get it!" moment. Sometimes it doesn't help, jus depends.

I can't "memorize" anything; I need to understand the material. Once I "get it", then the facts fall right into place. Facts w/o meaning just drift away.

Explaining it to someone else etches it in stone for me. So I think I'll change my answer. Knowing "Aloud" is key but seriously you are very tolerant.
