Do you think there is any chance that the 2012 apocalypse predictions might come true?

No. Everyone said there'd be a rapture, but no.

@tcdlord, THANK YOU. My thoughts exactly. Except the christians make sure there's no way to disprove them such as an apocalypse that never happens.

No less likely than the bible being true; therefore likely BS.

I'm sure that if the end comes.... the republicans will find a way to blame Obama.

Aww, atheist, you just got cman on you. (sorry, that just sounds funny!) BTW, the chupacabra is real! Do not doubt the existence or power of the chupacabra or suffer its wrath!

As much as a sudden, catastrophic end of the world offers such dramatic appeal, our end will be slow, gradual, and agonizing...a "wonderful gift" we will leave for our descendants.

No, but the question asked if there was ANY chance. There is always a chance no matter how small.

08/31/11 4:59 pm

There's always a chance...however small it may be it's still a chance...

almost every decade someone says that the world is going to end, were still here

The human race is bound for destruction in the long run, but thats going to happen for atleast 500-1000 years.

08/28/11 5:44 am

I think there are 2 kinds the first is total where humans do not exists and partial where the governments of the world die off but mankind still exists and I think 2012 is not the point at witch it happens but the point of no return

@pmb that's exactly what I was going to say. Yes, it's a possibilty, everything is, you just have to decide for yourself if it's likely.

08/24/11 6:33 pm

Whenever it's time, Jesus will be here.

@Robert - why not for 500-1000 years? What more proof do you have that it will be then and not 2012? Saying it will happen in 500 years is just as silly as saying it will happen next year. We have no way of knowing for sure when, but lets not turn our heads and be ignorant to the world around us!

which one? science related apacolypse?

There is absolutely NO guarantee that tomorrow or the next day will come. The world could end at any moment! This shouldnt cause fear, instead it should help us all the take each day in our hands and be happy, because tomorrow might not happen! :)

I believe in the rapture but not the 2012 hype.

this was a state intelligence test. The more red your test is, the better you did. we have one state that is functionally retarded and one that is on the edge.

The day and the hour is unknown, not even Jesus knows. Only God does.

08/26/11 10:21 pm

Nahh... That theory's pretty ridiculous.

Also, woman that make less than 50k a year and are under 21 apparently are moronic.

is it just me or does it seem that in these types of questions Wyoming is actually hoping something catastrophic happens?

08/24/11 1:14 pm

Wildflower, exactly "any chance". The cycles of our solar system hint at such an occurrence in the past.

@RJ: thanks, and I have a life size map of the world on on my wall. It says 1 mile = 1 mile (SW)

I would think that most women under 21 should make less than 50k. Most respectable professions that pay more than 50k require a college degree...

08/25/11 3:41 pm

tops queen... I'm confused on what I said to upset you.

08/24/11 1:19 pm

Omg I knew this would turn into a religion thing. Whoever said there being indicators in the past of events on earth... Yes. God has nothing to do with it. We are not a game of Sims... Dumbest game ever. It may not happen but it could.

08/25/11 3:42 pm

oh right... my tool reference. it's just a song. albeit a good one. I guess it hit a little too close to home.

Terraperm: exactly. Even if you aren't religious watch the presentation "The Bethlehem Star" by Stephen McEveety. Very scientific, well presented.

Highly unlikely but who knows anything can happen

btw. it's silly to live in a tsunami zone. I live in the mountains so I only worry about snow really. god I love the Appalachians.

The Mayan Long Count calendar "resets" on December 21, 2012. The world may not end, but the Mayans predicted that a new cycle would begin then. A new era, in a way. What that means, I cannot say. Personally, with the hurricanes, earthquakes, wars and going on, there is definitely a chance of doom.

08/25/11 3:47 pm

atheist. what part of tx you from? my aunt lives in San Marcos.

08/24/11 1:25 pm

science and religious beliefs seem to clash..I am a believer in god however The science predictions were about bad earthquakes and hurricanes and it seems pretty logical. They can't predict when the world will end but I think they can predict catastrophe...which I think is near, but I don't know

cogrl Colorado
08/24/11 1:26 pm

@jsx23: of course it turned religious. What do you think the Mayans were doing? The whole thing was about their gods.

Awesome San Antonio
08/24/11 1:28 pm

The Mayans believed that the date coming up would be a big event for their people. If you interview a Mayan (yes, they still exist) about the "apocalypse," he won't know what you're talking about.

christena
08/24/11 1:33 pm

I don't necessarily think that it will happen, but there's obviously a chance.

08/24/11 1:34 pm

Absolutely no way. The same man that started this rumor started one around 1970's and LOOK! It didn't come true.

cogrl Colorado
08/24/11 1:37 pm

Given their technology, the Mayan calendar had to stop somewhere.

08/24/11 1:37 pm

And wen tht day passes I want everyone who said it would come true to rethink their ideas and see if it still seems possible.

08/24/11 7:25 pm

earthquakes on the east coast... it's coming.
