Is the Democratic Party really pro-choice?
Guns, drug use, health insurance, union membership etc.
Voting? No room to complain.
You can do it your own way, if it's done just how they say. (Great Metallica song by the way)
When it comes to abortion, mostly yes. When it comes to anything else, not at all.
When it comes to abortion, sort of. Most mainstream Democrats probably only support it in the 1st and 2nd trimesters. When it comes to other issues, not at all.
I don't think the party claims to be broadly pro-choice, the Democratic Party certainly is in favor of women having the option and access to an abortion. So it's definitely pro-choice on abortion, but doesn't really claim to be on all issues.
Such as abortion, for one..
Yes, if we're talking about abortion.
No, abortion procedures only consider the opinion of one of the two party's affected by the decision. That's a standard of "choice" that would not be considered valid in any other aspect of western society.
Aren't they for the greatest amount of choice in regards to drugs?
Not voting? No room to complain
You're missing the bigger picture. Sometimes you have to limit some things in order to provide far more liberties down the road. When people can do what they want with their lives because they haven't died of cancer or gunshots, that's real freedom.
Compared to republicans? Yes.
When people say pro-choice, I think that's in relation to abortion. We don't use pro-life or pro-choice on other issues. So yeah, the democrats are pro-choice.
Nobody is advocating that kind of freedom.
I will concede that point.
You have a false dichotomy where you have absolute freedom with no restrictions and restrictions on some liberties. Nobody is advocating an anarchistic freedom.
You don't get this concept, do you
Not pro choice of the baby.
I didn't say they were. You've lost me, sorry.
No, Democrats are not pro choice in any respect. Even on the issue of abortion they are not truly pro choice.
Actually I take back my first point. There are some areas where they are pro choice.
